Refinement was not the watchword on the Mini's drawing board! The purpose of these pads was to try and insulate the driver and passenger from some of the noise, banging and drumming that seemed to be built into all factory Mini's. Original optional bonnet felts were made of a material that is no longer available, Made out of a thick and tough 'Hardura' felt backed PVC. The bulkhead piece is made of the same material and should be glued between the bulkhead and engine (trimming around speedo aperture and carburettor/ bulkhead gubbins is necessary, particularly on more modern cars).
