The original needle bearings for the MGA laygear contained 20 loose rollers which meant they had the advantage of having just enough space for oil and gave better load distribution, preserving the wear life of the layshaft and laygear.

However the most commonly available replacement today is the 'caged' type bearings that contains fewer rollers. The reduction in the number of rollers can lead to premature failure of the layshaft.

We can now offer the original type roller bearings for your MGA and MGB laygears which will reduce the amount of wear on the shaft and increase the life of the laygear.
